Plenary Speakers

Bio: Dr. Tuncer Can is currently teaching at Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa, Hasan Ali Yücel Faculty of Education, ELT Department. He completed his MA at Istanbul University in 2004 on "Constructivism and Training of Pre-service Foreign Language Teachers". In 2005, he was granted a Fulbright Scholarship and he spent a year at Syracuse University, NY, USA, where he taught Turkish via videoconferencing. He completed his Ph.D. at Istanbul University in 2011 on "Foreign Language Learning Strategies in the Context of Lifelong Learning and Plurilingualism". In 2012, he lead projects like “Using the 3D Virtual Learning Environments in the Training of Teachers", "Creating 3D Virtual Campus of Istanbul University on 3D VLEs" Dr. Can has taken part in six EU Erasmus+ Projects, also related to immersive environments, teacher training and foreign language learning (1) CAMELOT, (2) YouRNI, (3) TABLIO, (4) GUINEVERE, (5) ARTICULAN and (6) YouALLs. He has been a part time scholar at Turkish Air Force Academy, IU Linguistics Department and Medipol University ELT Department. Dr. Can has also edited and co-authored the "Less is More English Coursebook Series" and "Swifts English Coursebook Series" from Glocal Press. Biodata: Originally from the UK, Amanda Yeşilbursa has been involved in ELT and teacher education for 30 years. She has taught students of all ages and levels, from kindergarten to postgraduate in contexts as varied as Taiwan, the UK, and Turkey. She gained her postgraduate degrees in ELT from Gazi University, and currently holds the position of full professor at Bursa Uludağ University. Her research interests include reflective practice and English Language teacher education.
